The Employment Counsellor's role in the community is to provide guidance and support to individuals who are seeking employment or skill enhancement and to assist them in the transition from unemployment to employment. Counsellors work with clients to determine their employability skill level, provide information relevant to the labour market and assist with development of career action plans. Our Employment Counsellors provide the following services: Career ExplorationAssisting individuals in exploring various career options through:
Skill EnhancementExamination of training options and exploration of funding opportunities. Job Search TechniquesHelping clients with:
Job MaintenanceExamining employers needs and providing strategies for employees to maintain jobs. If you are presently collecting Employment Insurance or if you have collected Employment Insurance in the last 36 months, call and make an appointment. Job GemA great way to get noticed by employers and show you have what it takes can come in the form of a certificate. To an employer, a certificate shows that you are seriously interested in the job, and that you have the know-how to jump right into work. Basic skills training can open a lot of doors and, hopefully, put some money back in your pocket! Upper Skeena Development Centre, uheuberger@usdc.bc.ca
