Life in the Upper Skeena
Employment Services
The Upper Skeena Development Centre receives contributions from Service Canada to deliver employment services and provide counselling in the Upper Skeena region. The Employment Counsellor's role in the community is to provide guidance and support to individuals who are seeking employment or skill enhancement and to assist them in the transition from unemployment to employment. Counsellors work with clients to determine their employability skill level, provide information relevant to the labour market and assist with development of career action plans.

Career Exploration
Assisting individuals in exploring various career options through:
- Occupational Research
- Career Assessment
- Training Plans
- Labour Market Information
- Introduction to Apprenticeship
Skill Enhancement
Examination of training options and exploration of funding opportunities.
Job Search Techniques
Helping clients with:
- Resumes / Cover Letters
- Networking
- Job Search Training
- Interview Skills
Job Maintenance
Examining employers needs and providing strategies for employees to maintain jobs.

Job Gem
A great way to get noticed by employers and show you have what it takes can come in the form of a certificate. To an employer, a certificate shows that you are seriously interested in the job, and that you have the know-how to jump right into work. Basic skills training can open a lot of doors and, hopefully, put some money back in your pocket!
